The county culminating event for middle school cross country runners is Tuesday, Nov. 18 starting at 9:30 a.m. in Salisbury City Park. We thank the Wicomico County Education Foundation for its generous support of the in Wicomico Public Schools’ middle school intramural program, including cross country.

Parents, come cheer on your middle school athletes as they challenge themselves on the cross-country course along with other runners from all the middle schools: Bennett Middle, Mardela Middle, Pittsville Middle, Salisbury Middle and Wicomico Middle. The top school takes home the county trophy, and the top 6 individual runners at each grade level (girls and boys) receive awards: medals for 1st through 3rd, ribbons for 4th through 6th. See you out there along the course to support these student-athletes!

Dr. Keene's Child Development II class is continuing their partnership with Northwestern Elementary School this year, allowing students to experience firsthand the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development during the early childhood years. To say they are learning and having fun while doing it would be an understatement.

Veterans Day tribute for November 11th
Some members of the Mardela Middle and High School orchestra watched the National Symphony Orchestra perform in Washington D.C. at the Kennedy Center! The orchestra accompanied the short film "Philharmonia Fantastique: The Making of the Orchestra," which you can watch on Apple TV. It is a Grammy Award-winning soundtrack from composer Mason Bates! Afterwards, we received a private tour of the Kennedy Center's facilities. We had a fantastic time!

When you say something nice about a teacher, you make their day. But did you know that right now, if your “something nice” is a nomination for Wicomico Teacher of the Year, you could make a teacher’s day, month or even year?

Nominations will be taken through Tuesday, Nov. 25 through our easy online nomination forms in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole. (Paper copies are available from schools on request.) Learn more and access the links to the nomination forms: https://www.wicomicoschools.org/article/2503651
