It’s officially August! That means that the start of the Fall Sports season is less than two weeks away. On Wednesday, August 14th the Wicomico High School Athletic Department will be ready to welcome our student-athletes back on campus to kick-off the Fall season. We highly encourage all eligible students to consider participating in a Fall sport. Large scale studies have shown academic benefits associated with participating in athletics and extracurricular activities. The research suggests that students who participate in athletics and/or extracurricular activities have significantly higher GPAs and significantly lower absenteeism than non-participants.
During the Fall season, WiHi offers Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Girls Volleyball, and Unified Tennis. To be eligible to participate in a Fall Sport, student-athletes must have an active physical dated after 6/1/24 on file with our Athletic Trainer, Coach White. Form ReLeaf registration must be completed prior to participating in tryout/practices. Additionally, student-athletes must be academically eligible, having earned a 2.0 or higher during Term 4 of the 2023-2024 school year. Incoming 9th graders are automatically academically eligible until the end of Term 1 (November 8th, 2024).
The date, time, and location of the first practice/tryout has been provided in the graphic. Please check our Facebook page for even more information!
